Susan Barry Hazen, Expert in Chemicals and Pesticides, Joins WSG as Senior Advisor

Susan Barry Hazen, an expert in the science and regulation of chemicals, pesticides and toxic substances, has joined Whitman Strategy Group (WSG) as a senior advisor specializing in TSCA-reform and green chemistry-related issues.

Hazen brings an international reputation for both policy and technical expertise built over a distinguished 30-plus-year EPA career.

The senior-level positions that she has held at the agency include that of Acting Assistant Administrator in the agency’s Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances, where she led the offices responsible for implementing the nation’s pesticide, toxic chemicals, right-to-know, pollution prevention, and lead-based paint laws, as well as regulatory and scientific programs in connection with nanotechnology, biotechnology, endocrine disruption, lead, PCB’s, asbestos and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).

Hazen also served as Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator in the EPA’s Office of Administration and Resources Management where she oversaw the agency’s $5 billion dollar contracts and grants program, as well as the design, development and management of EPA’s Human Resource infrastructure.

Her valuable service to the agency was recognized with numerous awards, including the Distinguished Career Service Award, the President’s Quality Award for Overall Management and the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Executives.
