Kathleen Callahan, Sustainability Expert and Former US EPA Deputy Administrator, Joins WSG as Senior Advisor

Kathleen Callahan, a former Deputy Regional Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, has joined Whitman Strategy Group (WSG) as a senior advisor and will focus on helping clients implement environmental stewardship and sustainability programs.
Callahan has worked on some of the environment’s most pressing issues over more than three decades of public service, and has held a variety of leadership positions within the EPA’s Region 2 Office. These roles have included serving as Acting Regional Administrator, Director of the Superfund Division, and Director of the Division of Environmental Planning and Protection. She also played a key role in the EPA’s response to the September 11 terrorist attacks by serving as Assistant Regional Administrator for World Trade Center Response and Recovery.
Her contributions to the environment and to the nation were recognized with Presidential Meritorious Awards for Exceptional Executive Service in 1998 and 2002.
Since leaving public service, she has remained actively engaged in environmental and sustainability issues as Associate Director of the Water Center at The Earth Institute, and as an Associate Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Her current projects at WSG include assisting Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, to plan and implement a wide-ranging sustainability initiative aimed at conserving energy and improving the local environment.
